1. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki:

Courses at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are normally taught in Greek. However, there are courses in other languages too, especially at the Foreign Language Faculties, Faculty of Law (courses in English, French and German language), School of Journalism & Mass Communications, School of Economics and School of Political Sciences. In all other cases, there are special arrangements for Erasmus+ students, such as assignment of essays in English with the use of English bibliography in small groups of students.

Information concerning courses and other academic matters can be obtained at the website of the University: http://www.auth.gr/en/faculties

Greek Language courses for Erasmus+ students

There are regular and online Greek language courses, which start at the beginning of each semester. These courses are organized specifically for Erasmus+ students with the support of the EU and are offered free of charge under certain conditions in regard to absences. You can find more information at the School of Modern Greek Language of AUTH: http://smg.web.auth.gr/wordpress/?lang=en

F. Information

1. Grading systems of the institutions

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki:

A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education

Άριστα (Arista) - Excellent

6,5-8,49

Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) – Very Good

5,00-6,49

Καλώς ( Kalos) - Good

Ανεπιτυχώς ( Anepitychos) - Fail

Sorbonne Université

At Sorbonne University, all our marks are out of 20. For information, Sorbonne University stands amongst one the most difficult grading systems in France. It is important to note that a 10/20 is a good grade and that it stands for the passing grade. The credit part refers to the number of European credits the course provides. It is based on the 30 credits per semester system that French students must pass to validate one semester. It does not refer to the number of hours taken for one course. When noted “//” on your students’ transcripts, it shows that both the ECTS and credits are not relevant for your grading system. The local grade ( /20) is the most relevant information you should consider to validate your students’ semester/year at Sorbonne University.
